Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has repudiated speculations suggesting that he has an ulterior motive behind remodelling of Jimeta shopping complex noting that as a leader, he has to take bold and futuristic decisions that will have interminable benefits on the state and its populace.
The governor during an interactive session with members of the correspondents’ chapel in his office on Thursday said, such insinuation is the handwork of very minute group of people who are obverse to the development of the state.
He added that as a modern and progressive leader, he has the responsibility to take actions in the overall interest of the state despite the vile antics of few retrogressive elements.
Fintiri added that the prevailing chaos and dis-orderliness in the shopping complex precipitated his quest to modernize the market in order to sanitize it, free spaces and create an outstanding business and commercial hub in Adamawa State.
He noted that when completed, the market will have all the modern infrastructure and facilities needed in a market in the 21st century adding that as a leader he wants to build enduring and State of the art facilities similar to the ones in developed countries.
The governor noted that as a leader he has no interest in getting an inch of the land or a shop in the market since he is not a trader adding that posterity will be kind to him for taking such a bold move when the benefits of his actions start manifesting.
He urged traders and the entire people of Adamawa State to continue to support government policies and programs aimed at enhancing the socio economic fortunes and livelihoods of the good people of the state.
