NAF Airstrikes Decimate ISWAP Strongholds in Lake Chad Region

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has dealt a significant blow to the Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorist group, eliminating scores of fighters, top leaders, and equipment in a series of airstrikes on island bases in the Southern Lake Chad Region.

According to intelligent sources, two Super Tucano aircraft targeted enemy strongholds in Tombun Baba Jedda and Arainna Soro areas on August 16, 2024, between 1700Hrs and 1800Hrs, resulting in substantial damage and casualties.

Damage assessment revealed the destruction of several equipment and water vessels, as well as the neutralization of numerous fighters at Tombun Baba Jedda. The airstrikes also hit an ISWAP medical dispensary at Arinna Soro, immobilizing several vehicles.

Top leaders and commanders were neutralized in the airstrikes, dealing a severe blow to the terrorist organization. Consequently, ISWAP has recalled its advance team of fighters sent for rival attack missions, indicating high casualties among top commanders.

Sources suggest that ISWAP is attempting to cover up the extent of its losses to avoid an offensive from rival group JAS.
