The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has reiterated the Nigerian Air Force’s (NAF) commitment to protecting and strengthening the country’s democratic institutions, values, and principles.
According to a statement by Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, Director of Public Relations and Information, Nigerian Air Force, Air Marshal Abubakar made this declaration during a meeting with Gombe State Governor, Muhammed Inuwa Yahaya, on August 10, 2024.
The CAS emphasized that the NAF and other security agencies are duty-bound to uphold the constitution and protect the rights of all Nigerians.
Air Marshal Abubakar commended Governor Yahaya for his achievements in infrastructure development, healthcare, and education, and acknowledged the state’s top ranking for ease of doing business in Nigeria.
He also addressed the recent protest in the state, noting that the NAF deployed aircraft and personnel to support quelling the unrest.
Governor Yahaya expressed appreciation for the NAF’s efforts in addressing security challenges and commended the 109 Combat Reconnaissance Group for their swift response to recent cases of looting and theft. He assured the CAS of his government’s commitment to providing infrastructure support to the unit.
