The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) on Friday showcased its newly developed Hybrid SUV and other locally manufactured innovations while engaging domestic manufacturers in Adamawa State on strategies to boost Made-in-Nigeria products.
The one-day workshop featured lectures and group discussions aimed at inspiring entrepreneurs, finding lasting solutions to local production challenges, improving product quality, and retaining capital within the country.
Speaking at the event, NASENI’s Manufacturing Consultant, Dr. Saleh Adamu Kwaru, said the agency is focusing on four critical sectors of national development: manufacturing, agriculture, healthcare, and renewable energy.
According to him, the initiative is designed to stimulate local production, reduce poverty, create employment opportunities, and generate over three million jobs across Nigeria.
Showcasing the Hybrid SUV – a dual-powered vehicle that runs on petrol (PMS) and electricity – Dr. Kwaru commended President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for creating an enabling environment that allows Nigerian innovators to develop world-class products and reduce overdependence on foreign goods.
“NASENI is committed to building the nation’s capacity for self-reliance. Our goal is to strengthen local industries, enhance productivity, and ensure that Nigerian-made products meet global standards,” he said.
Domestic manufacturers at the workshop lauded President Tinubu and NASENI’s leadership for “taking the bull by the horn” in promoting indigenous technology.
They expressed optimism that Nigeria could soon compete globally and reclaim its status as the “Giant of Africa.”
The participants further urged the Federal Government to implement regulatory policies that reward local manufacturers, encourage domestic patronage, and compel ministries, agencies, and political officeholders to prioritize Made-in-Nigeria products.
