NASU Declares Indefinite Strike in Health Sector Over Unmet Demands

The Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU) has directed all its members in the health sector to embark on an indefinite strike, following the expiration of a 15-day ultimatum to the Federal Government.

In a circular addressed to all NASU branch secretaries in universities, teaching and specialist hospitals, and regulatory bodies, the union cited the government’s failure to address the demands of the Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU) and honour the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on 29th October 2024 as the basis for the strike.

The letter, signed by NASU Deputy General Secretary II, Lawrence O. Okebiorun, instructed every member in the health sector to fully participate in the industrial action “until further notice.”

NASU President Comrade Makolo Hassan, alongside General Secretary P.A. Adeyemi and National Treasurer Comrade Adebisi Oludare E., endorsed the directive.

The strike is expected to significantly affect operations in teaching hospitals and health-related regulatory bodies across the country.
