NBTE Accredits Adamawa Skills Centres, Training to Resume Soon

The Director-General, Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation Agency (PAWECA), Dr. Michael Zira, says the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has accredited the Adamawa State Technical Training Skills Centres to award the National Certificate in Technology (NCT).

Zira disclosed this during a press briefing in Yola on Monday, announcing plans for the resumption of training at the 10 skills centres across the state.

He said the accreditation would enable graduates of the centres to have their certificates recognised by employers globally.

According to him, the delay in admissions was due to damage caused by windstorms, which blew off the roofs of some centres at the onset of the rainy season.

“The affected centres are being fixed, and we have now commenced the admission process,” he said.

Zira urged successful candidates who had been profiled and sat for the entrance examination to check the admission lists at their respective local government secretariats.

He added that a needs assessment would be conducted next week to sensitise candidates on the relevance of their chosen courses.

The DG commended Gov. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for his efforts in transforming the state’s economy and disclosed that beneficiaries of the Fintiri Business Wallet (FBW) would receive payments this month.

He expressed optimism that the next phase of the FBW would reach the 100,000 beneficiaries earlier announced by the governor, stressing that the government was committed to moving Adamawa from a “civil servant state” to a business hub through skills acquisition and youth empowerment.
