Nigeria Customs Announces Date For Online CBT In Recruitment Exercise

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) says candidates shortlisted for its ongoing recruitment exercise will sit for an online Computer-Based Test (CBT) from Sept. 14 to 21, 2025.

The National Public Relations Officer of the Service, Abdullahi Maiwada, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja.

Maiwada said the recruitment exercise, which began with an advertisement on Dec. 27, 2024, declared 3,927 vacancies across the Superintendent, Inspectorate and Customs Assistant cadres.

He said a total of 573,523 applications were received in the first phase, out of which 286,697 candidates were shortlisted after documentary scrutiny.

“Candidates shortlisted for the CBT are required to undertake the test at any location of their choice, provided there is reliable internet access. The test must, however, be taken using a laptop or desktop computer with a webcam, as the application is not mobile phone-enabled.

“A facial verification process will be carried out during login. Candidates are advised to maintain a neat appearance to avoid difficulties with recognition,” he said.

Maiwada explained that the CBT application was sensitive to noise and movement, cautioning candidates to avoid distractions, whispering or switching windows during the test, as such actions could lead to disqualification.

According to him, a mandatory pre-test exercise will be conducted two days before the CBT to enable candidates familiarise themselves with the system.

He added that applicants for the Superintendent cadre (Level 8) would sit for an additional CBT in the next phase of the exercise, while this requirement would not apply to the Inspectorate and Customs Assistant cadres.

The spokesperson assured that the process remained merit-driven and transparent, stressing that successful candidates would be informed of subsequent phases through official NCS communication channels.

He urged applicants to strictly follow the guidelines and avoid unofficial sources, noting that the Service would not demand any form of payment or conduct recruitment activities on social media.
