The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has commenced online registration for Phase Two of the Renewed Hope Employment Initiative, a federal government programme designed to combat unemployment and equip Nigerians with vocational and digital skills.
The Director-General of NDE, Mr. Silas Agara, disclosed this on Monday in Abuja while unveiling the newly launched registration portal and the upgraded digital infrastructure supporting the programme.
“After the success recorded during Phase One, we have invested in stronger digital infrastructure to ensure Phase Two runs entirely online,” Agara said.
He explained that the NDE has deployed advanced hardware, software, and internet connectivity across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory to ensure seamless registration and training operations.
According to him, interested applicants must be Nigerian residents aged between 18 and 45 years and possess a valid National Identification Number (NIN). Registration is open to all eligible citizens, regardless of state of origin.
Agara added that participants will be trained in over 30 vocational and digital skills tailored to reflect local economic realities.
“The skills on offer vary by location,” he said. “What’s in demand in Abia may be different from what’s needed in Adamawa. That’s why we’ve customised the training content to maximise regional opportunities.”
He stated that registration will run from July 28 to August 11 on the official portal http://www.nderegistrationportal.ng, while processing of applications will take place between August 12 and 22.
The NDE boss also issued a strong warning to prospective applicants to be wary of fraudulent agents.
“Participation is completely free. No applicant should pay anyone,” he stressed. “Any suspicious activity should be reported immediately to our headquarters or state job centres.”
Mr. Agara reiterated that the Renewed Hope Employment Initiative is part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration’s strategic response to youth unemployment, with a focus on job creation, skill acquisition, and inclusive economic growth.
He assured that NDE job centres across the 37 locations, including the FCT, are fully equipped to provide support throughout the registration process.
