The North East Development Commission (NEDC), in collaboration with the Nigeria Arabic Language Village, Ngala, has successfully concluded a two-week Train-the-Trainers workshop for Tsangaya and Islamiya teachers in Borno State.
The initiative, which aimed to enhance the capacity of non-formal education instructors, concluded with a ceremony attended by the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the NEDC, Mr. Mohammed Goni Alkali, and the Executive Director, Humanitarian Affairs, Mr. Musa Umar Yashi, alongside other senior officials.
Speaking at the closing event, Mr. Alkali reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to strengthening educational development in the North-East through targeted interventions. He said the training was part of broader efforts to equip teachers with the necessary skills to deliver quality and inclusive education across non-formal learning centres.
“This workshop reflects our continued resolve to build the human capital of our region. By empowering teachers, we are investing directly in the future of our children,” he said.
Participants in the workshop were drawn from various Tsangaya and Islamiya schools across Borno State, and were trained in modern teaching methodologies, classroom management, and curriculum delivery to improve learning outcomes.
Mr. Yashi noted that the programme aligns with the Commission’s strategic objective of improving access to education and fostering social development in post-conflict communities.
He commended the teachers for their dedication and urged them to cascade the knowledge gained to other educators in their respective communities.
The NEDC pledged to sustain collaboration with relevant stakeholders to support education, empowerment, and resilience-building across the North-East region.
