Mohammed Goni Alkali, the Managing Director of the North East Development Commission (NEDC), has initiated the distribution of food supplies to support vulnerable individuals amidst prevailing economic challenges in the region.
Following this directive, the Adamawa State branch of NEDC has successfully disbursed over 20,000 bags of rice and various food items across the state, aiming to provide relief to families and communities facing hardships.
Under the supervision of the Vice President’s office, NEDC carried out the distribution in Yola on Monday, delivering items such as rice, spaghetti, indomie noodles, sugar, vegetable oil, mats, and blankets to identified clusters.
Recipients included Civil Society Organizations, charity groups, traditional and religious institutions, community-based organizations, Persons Living with Disabilities (PLWD), women and youth groups, as well as the media, ensuring fair and equitable distribution.
Expressions of gratitude poured in from various quarters, with Malam Bappare Kem of JNI acknowledging NEDC’s timely intervention amid the prevailing hardships.
Similarly, Malam Umar Dauda, a member of the physically challenged community, highlighted the significant impact the donations would have, especially during the Ramadan period, bringing relief to many families.
Pastor Love Zidon also extended appreciation to NEDC for their timely assistance, recognizing the positive impact it would have on families and communities in need.
