The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has said it will during the year, hand over a total of 134 projects constructed across Taraba State to Governor Agbu Kefas.
Managing Director of the Commission, Mohammed Alkali, revealed this during a courtesy visit to Governor Kefas at the State House on Wednesday, February 28, 2024.
According to Alkali, many of the soon-to-be-handed-over projects were already completed.
He said; “As of today, we have 134 projects across Taraba State, and most of them are completed. Very soon, we will come over to hand over those projects. And for our 2024 plan, we have also slated some projects which we will further discuss with the state and take action.”
While responding, Governor Kefas assured the Commission of identifying key areas for interventions in the state.
He explained that his administration was aware of the infrastructural and security challenges in the State, adding that he would work together with the Commission to tackle some of the challenges.
“I am aware of the challenges that our state and the region face. From infrastructural concerns to security challenges. We have our work cut out for us, however, I am also optimistic that with the right cooperation from you, we can overcome the challenges and face the future for our people,” he said.
The Governor acknowledged the crucial role played by NEDC, adding that the Commission’s work is crucial in adding positive changes capable of improving the lives of the people of the State.
“As an agency tasked with the responsibility of implementing sustainable projects in the state, your work is crucial in adding positive change and improving the lives of the indigenes of the state.
“The purpose of your visit today is to facilitate the implementation of critical projects for 2024. This is a critical role, and I must commend your proactive steps in engaging with the state.
“I want to assure you that the government is fully committed to working with the commission. We will provide the necessary cooperation to implement good projects for the state. I am happy you stated the number of projects already completed, and that they will soon be handed over to the state. We will be looking forward to that,” he said.
