The senator representing Borno Central, Sen. Kaka Shehu Lawan (SAN), has sympathised with the government and people of Borno over the recent Boko Haram attack on Ngoshe community in Gwoza Local Government Area.
Lawan, in a statement on Saturday, commiserated with Gov. Babagana Umara Zulum, Sen. Mohammed Ali Ndume of Borno South, security forces and the people of Ngoshe over the incident which led to the loss of lives and destruction of property.
He described the attack as unfortunate, noting that it occurred at a time when residents of the area were gradually rebuilding their lives after years of insurgency.
The lawmaker condemned the act, describing it as cowardly and targeted at soft targets, particularly innocent women and children.
According to him, such acts of violence will not deter the government’s efforts toward restoring peace, security and normalcy across communities affected by insurgency in the state.
Lawan added that the resilience of the people of Borno would not be weakened by the actions of terrorists.
He prayed for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives in the attack and asked God to grant comfort to the bereaved families and communities affected by the incident.
The senator also urged residents to continue supporting security agencies with useful information to aid ongoing efforts to end insurgency in the region.
