Nigerian Army Trains 6,000 Recruits to Tackle Security Challenges

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, has announced that the 6,000 recruits who passed out at the Depot Nigerian Army in Zaria are a crucial part of the army’s solution to the country’s security challenges.

The recruits, who completed their training after six months, will be deployed to tackle insurgency, banditry, farmers-herders clashes, secessionist agitations, militancy, and vandalism in various parts of the country.

General Lagbaja addressed the young recruits at the Passing Out Parade, stating that they will undergo advanced military training to sharpen their skills and master the array of weapons and equipment in the army’s inventory.

He also assured them of improved welfare packages, including quartering, medical, recreational, and educational facilities, to ensure their career fulfillment.

The COAS charged the soldiers to be ready to defend the nation wherever and whenever they are ordered to, by land, sea, or air, and to uphold the values of exceptional discipline, loyalty, integrity, and dedication to duty.

He expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the National Assembly, Minister of Defence, and the Chief of Defence Staff for their support.

Four recruits emerged as award winners, receiving honors for their outstanding performance during training. The event was attended by dignitaries, including the Governor of Kaduna State, the Emir of Zauzzau, and the President of the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association.
