Nigerian Army University Gets New Vice Chancellor

Professor Lawan Bala Buratai has been appointed the new Vice Chancellor of the Nigerian Army University Biu (NAUB), following a rigorous selection process conducted by the university’s Governing Council.

The final phase of the selection took place on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at the Armed Forces Officers Mess and Suites in Asokoro, Abuja. After careful deliberation and assessment of all shortlisted candidates, the Council announced Prof Buratai as the successful candidate for the prestigious role.

Chairman of the Governing Council, Dr. Awwal Moriki, formally congratulated Prof Buratai and presented him with the official letter of appointment. Dr. Moriki commended the fairness and transparency of the selection process and expressed confidence in Prof Buratai’s ability to lead the institution to greater heights.

Prof Buratai succeeds Prof Kyari Mohammed, who has completed his single five-year term as the pioneer Vice Chancellor of the university. The Council acknowledged Prof Mohammed’s contributions to the growth and development of NAUB since its inception.

Prof Lawan Buratai, a distinguished academic and administrator, is expected to bring a wealth of experience and vision to the helm of NAUB as it continues its mission of fostering academic excellence and supporting national development, especially in the field of security and defense studies.
