The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has unveiled a digital Pre-Enrolment Portal aimed at accelerating the National Identification Number (NIN) registration process across the country.
The commission disclosed this in a post on its official X handle on Friday, explaining that the platform allows applicants to submit their personal details online, upload required documents and book appointments ahead of physical biometric capture.
According to NIMC, the initiative is designed to ease congestion at enrolment centres, cut down waiting time and improve the accuracy of data submitted by applicants.

Speaking on the development, the Head of Corporate Communications at NIMC, Dr Kayode Adegoke, said the portal enables prospective applicants within Nigeria and in the Diaspora to complete a substantial part of the registration process online before visiting enrolment centres for biometric capture.
He noted that the digital platform would enhance efficiency and provide a smoother and more convenient registration experience for citizens.
The Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of NIMC, Engr Abisoye Coker-Odusote, also said the pre-enrolment system would simplify NIN registration by allowing applicants to enter and manage their biodata online and schedule appointments to minimise delays.
She added that the portal features secure handling of personal information, seamless document uploads and improved operational efficiency across enrolment centres nationwide.
NIMC stated that the initiative aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu, which places emphasis on digital transformation, efficient public service delivery and inclusive national development.
The commission encouraged Nigerians seeking NIN registration to take advantage of the new platform, describing it as a faster and more accessible pathway to obtaining the national identity number.
NIMC further reaffirmed its commitment to building a secure, reliable and inclusive digital identity system to support national planning and socio-economic development.
