NLC Debunks Fake Strike Notice in Yobe State

The Yobe State Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, has urged its affiliated members to ignore strike notice making rounds calling for an indefinite strike action.

A statement issued on Saturday by the State NLC Chairman, Muktari Musa Tarbutu, described the strike notice as fake and lacks basis.

The statement read in part: “You may recall that the joint committee between the government and NLC has concluded its negotiation on New Minimum wage and the report has since been forwarded to His Excellency the Executive Governor of Yobe State Honourable Mai Mala Buni CON for his consideration and approval.

“Therefore by this Notice NLC Yobe State Council is calling on all the Yobe State civil servants to disregard this purported circular and continue with their normal works and activities, we equally urge the Yobe State Civil servants and the general public to be cautious of fake news and circulars”.

He urged public servants to always verify information through credible sources before sharing.

Tarbutu further stated that the fake circular did not emanate from the State Council, reaffirming the commitment of NLC to promoting and protecting the rights and interests of Yobe State workers.
