NLC Suspends Strike In Taraba After Resolution Of Salary Dispute

The Taraba State chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has suspended its strike following the state government’s approval of salary payments to staff earlier designated as “ghost workers.”

NLC Chairman, Comrade Peter Jediel, confirmed the development in a statement on Wednesday, saying the decision came after the intervention of Governor Agbu Kefas.

Jediel commended the governor for addressing the concerns raised by the union over the delayed remuneration of affected workers.

“We commend the Governor for listening to the plight of our members and taking decisive action to ensure that all legitimate workers are paid their due salaries. This resolution demonstrates a commitment to fair labour practices and the welfare of Taraba State’s workforce,” he said.

He urged all workers in the state to resume duties immediately and continue contributing to the state’s development.

The strike had been declared in protest over the non-payment of salaries to workers flagged in the payroll system as “ghost workers,” a move the NLC said unjustly affected legitimate staff.
