The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has put forward N709,000 as the new minimum wage for workers during the ongoing public hearing on minimum wage in Abuja. In contrast, the Trade Union Congress (TUC) has proposed N447,000 for consideration.
Both labor unions cited current economic realities as significant factors influencing their suggested wage figures. Notably, Kwara, Nasarawa, and Niger states did not present any proposed wage amounts for their workers.
Among the states, only Plateau put forth a figure, suggesting N81,000 as the new national minimum wage. Further details on the deliberations and outcomes of the public hearing are expected to be revealed shortly.
