
The Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF) has strongly condemned the killing of travelers from Northern Nigeria in Udune Efandion community, Uromi, Edo State, describing it as a gross violation of human rights.
Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, issued a statement on Friday, calling for a full investigation and swift prosecution of those responsible.
“We are deeply disturbed by the loss of innocent lives and the horrific manner in which these individuals were attacked. Extrajudicial violence is unacceptable and must be unequivocally condemned,” Yahaya said.
He stressed that the attack undermines the rule of law and the unity of the nation, adding that security agencies must ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.
The governor also emphasized the right of all Nigerians to travel freely and safely, regardless of their region of origin, urging authorities to prevent such incidents from recurring.
The NSGF extended condolences to the victims’ families and called for calm while investigations are underway.
The incident has sparked widespread condemnation, with calls from various stakeholders for immediate government intervention to address security concerns and uphold the rights of all citizens.
