A horrific incident unfolded in Maiduguri as notorious area boys, suspected to be the deadly Marlians gang, carried out a deadly attack on two boys, resulting in the death of one and severe injuries to the other.
The tragic event occurred on Monday night around 8:30 pm in the Bulamari area of Dala, Maiduguri, Borno State.
According to an eyewitness account shared with our correspondent, the two victims, who were best friends, had gone to Bulamari on an errand to collect a cap from their sister after breaking their fast when they were ambushed by the Marlian gang.
The victim, Baba Saleh, who tragically lost his life in the attack, was described as a diligent student, sustaining himself by selling water (moya) to support his education.
Further investigations by our correspondent uncovered that the gang had a history of carrying out such violent acts in the area with impunity, reportedly under the leadership of a prominent figure’s son in the community.
The other victim, Rabiu, who endured brutal beatings from the gang, is currently receiving medical treatment in the hospital.
At present, the Borno State Police Command has initiated investigations into the incident, having taken statements from the victims’ families as they work to unravel the circumstances surrounding the tragic attack.
