The Adamawa State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has intercepted a truck loaded with vandalised iron pipes belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).
This marks the second successful interception by the Command in less than three weeks, reflecting its renewed commitment to safeguarding critical national assets and infrastructure.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the pipes, numbering about 250 and measuring between 8 and 10 feet, were illegally excavated from a bush around Iware in Taraba State and were being transported to Gombe State.
The truck was intercepted along the Mayo-Belwa–Yola road following credible intelligence gathered by NSCDC operatives.
Upon inspection, officials from the Yola Terminal of NNPCL confirmed that the vandalised pipes belonged to the company.
Speaking on the development, the Adamawa State Commandant of NSCDC, Mr. ID Bande, reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to protecting national infrastructure and curbing acts of vandalism and sabotage.
He said, “We will not relent in our efforts to ensure that those involved in these unlawful acts are apprehended and brought to justice. The protection of national assets is a collective responsibility, and we call on members of the public to continue providing credible intelligence to aid our operations.”
Bande disclosed that the Command has launched further investigations to identify and dismantle the syndicate behind the illegal activity and ensure that all culprits face the full weight of the law.
