The Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) has disowned a widely circulated disclaimer purportedly attributed to it, which claimed that there were no plans to pay the April wage award arrears to civil servants.
In an official statement issued on Saturday, the OAGF described the notice as “fake” and urged members of the public, especially federal civil servants, to disregard the misinformation in its entirety.
“The said disclaimer is FAKE and did not originate from the OAGF,” the statement said.
The OAGF clarified that it is actively processing the outstanding wage award arrears and affirmed that payments are expected to begin before the end of June.
“We appreciate the patience and understanding of all stakeholders as we finalize the necessary arrangements to ensure seamless disbursement,” the statement added.
The office also warned against reliance on unofficial sources for government financial information and advised the public to obtain updates only from verified OAGF communication channels.
“All authentic updates regarding wage awards and other financial matters will be communicated exclusively through the OAGF’s verified platforms, including our official website, press releases from the Federal Ministry of Finance, and authorized government spokespersons,” it stated.
