
A tragic altercation over a young woman has left one teenager dead and another critically injured in Tasha Dinya Village, Fufore Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
The violent incident occurred in the early hours of April 2, 2025, disrupting Eid-el-Fitr celebrations and casting a pall of mourning over the community.
According to intelligence sources, the clash involved 18-year-old Idrisu Nuhu and his 16-year-old cousin, Ahmadu Lawali. The duo reportedly engaged in a heated argument around 4:30 a.m., which escalated into a fatal confrontation. Armed with machetes, they attacked each other, resulting in grievous injuries.
Police reports confirmed that Idrisu suffered a severe head wound, while Ahmadu sustained a life-threatening cut to the neck.
A relative, Nuhu Alhaji Muazu, rushed the injured boys to the Malabu Primary Health Care Clinic. Despite medical efforts, Idrisu succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by the attending doctor. Ahmadu remains in critical condition, battling for survival.
Authorities have since cordoned off the crime scene, recovering two blood-stained cutlasses as evidence. The Adamawa State Police Command’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has taken over the case, launching an in-depth probe into the circumstances surrounding the tragic fight. Preliminary investigations suggest the altercation was fueled by rivalry over a young woman.
The incident has sent shockwaves through Tasha Dinya Village, leaving residents grappling with the untimely loss and the uncertainty of Ahmadu’s fate.
