OPHK Commander Assesses Combat Readiness of 29 Task Force Brigade

The Theatre Commander, Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), Maj.-Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar, has charged troops of 29 Task Force Brigade to sustain an aggressive posture against terrorists and avoid complacency in their operations.

Maj.-Gen. Abubakar gave the charge during an operational assessment visit to units under the brigade between Aug. 26 and 27. The units visited included 154 Task Force Battalion at Ngamdu, 156 Task Force Battalion at Mainok, 273 Task Force Battalion at Jakana, and 29 Task Force Brigade at Benisheikh.

The Theatre Commander said the visit was aimed at appraising the judicious use of Chief of Army Staff’s intervention resources, assessing combat readiness, and ensuring optimal utilisation of platforms and equipment deployed in the theatre.

He commended the troops for their gallantry and urged them to remain vigilant, resilient, and aggressive in confronting terrorist threats and other criminal activities.

Abubakar stressed the need for close supervision, effective coordination, and prioritisation of troops’ welfare, particularly the standard of feeding.

The commander also held an interactive session with the troops, during which they highlighted some administrative challenges. He assured them that most of the issues raised would be addressed immediately, while others would be escalated to the military high command.

During the visit, Commander of 29 Task Force Brigade, Brig.-Gen. Oseni Braimah, alongside the commanding officers of the units visited, briefed the Theatre Commander on measures adopted to dominate their areas and deny terrorists freedom of action.

The field commanders reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining operational tempo and ensuring the protection of lives and property within their areas of responsibility.

The visit was attended by formation commanders, senior staff officers from Theatre Headquarters, as well as Commander Sector 2, Brig.-Gen. Beyidi Martins.
