Passengers Stranded as Heavy Rainfall Cuts Off Namnai Route in Taraba

Heavy rainfall has wreaked havoc in Namnai, Gassol Local Government Area of Taraba State, leaving numerous passengers stranded following the collapse of the Namnai Bridge, which has remained unrepaired for months.

Eyewitnesses told our Correspondent on Wednesday that the torrential downpour had rendered the bridge impassable, preventing vehicles from crossing and leaving travelers stranded on both sides.

One of the stranded passengers, Mr. Ezekiel Adamu, described the situation as the “worst” he had ever experienced.

“The rains have completely cut us off. We have been here for hours with no way to cross. The authorities need to do something about this bridge, as it has been in a terrible state for months,” he lamented.

Residents and commuters have repeatedly appealed to the government to address the deteriorating condition of the bridge, warning that further delays could lead to greater disruptions. The heavy rains have also worsened road conditions, making it difficult for motorcycles and pedestrians to navigate the flooded terrain.

Community leaders have urged the Taraba State Government and relevant agencies to take swift action to repair the Namnai Bridge and improve the road network to prevent future occurrences.
