The acting national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Umar Damagum, has boasted that the party would bounce back and reclaim power in 2027.
Mr Damagum stated during a grand reception ceremony and the 76th birthday of the chairman, PDP Board of Trustees, Adolphus Wabara, in Umuahia on Saturday.
“PDP is a deeply rooted party in the south-east; hence, it would overcome whatever challenges confronting it presently,” adding that “with what we’re doing with our governors, the party will come back sound, healthy, and victorious.”
“All those migrants that have taken shelter somewhere will come back to the PDP in 2027. We recognise the nostalgia of the South-East; our governors will be back and the PDP will be victorious in 2027,” he said.
Speaking in the same vein, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde expressed optimism that the PDP will give birth to the next government.
He described Mr Wabara as a gift to the nation.
“Senator Wabara has restored hope in the party Board of Trustees, BoT; hence, we now know that this party has a conscience. This kind of occasion allows the party to come together in the South-East. You have gone through a lot. We are here to encourage you. The best of PDP is still ahead and in the future.”
Earlier, the chief host of the occasion, and governor of Enugu State, Peter Mba, said the celebrant “held sway during the glorious days of our party” and expressed the hope that Wabara “would deploy his experience to engineer the renaissance of the party.”.
