A tragic incident rocked Jalingo, Taraba State’s capital, on Friday night, resulting in the loss of a man’s life to phone snatchers. The victim, identified as Lanwe Bazing and a younger sibling of former Head of Service Engr. Augustine Bazing, met a fatal end in the Mile Six area at approximately 9 PM.
Bazing had hailed a motorcycle near the DeKrockz axis when he was accosted by assailants demanding his phone. Despite putting up a brave resistance, Bazing was stabbed, leading to a fatal fall that caused severe injuries upon hitting a gutter.
The deceased’s body has been transferred to the morgue at the Federal Medical Center (FMC) in Jalingo.
Efforts to validate the incident with the Police Public Relations Officer of Taraba State Command, DSP Usman Abdullahi, remained fruitless as he was unavailable for comment at the time of this report.
