Police Arrest 28-year-old For Raping Minor In Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 28-year-old man, Aliyu Musa of Mubi town, for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl.

This is contained in a statement issued on Tuesday in Yola by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje.

Nguroje said the arrest followed a complaint lodged at the Mubi North Divisional Police Headquarters on Sept. 12.

He explained that on Sept. 11, the victim, a sales girl, had sought shelter in Musaโ€™s shop during rainfall when the suspect allegedly lured her into the inner room and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.

According to him, the suspect attempted to induce the victim with money and a promise to buy her a mobile phone in order to conceal the act.

The statement quoted the Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, as directing a discreet investigation into the case, assuring that the suspect would be diligently prosecuted to ensure justice.

Morris condemned all forms of sexual violence against children and urged parents and guardians to educate their children on personal safety while encouraging the public to report suspicious acts without fear.
