Police Arrest 29-year-old Man Over Murder Of 5-year-old Boy In Adamawa

The Adamawa Police Command says it has arrested a 29-year-old man, Isiaka Hassan, for allegedly killing a five-year-old boy in Tingno, Lamurde Local Government Area of the state.

This is contained in a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, on Sunday in Yola.

Nguroje said the command received a report on Aug. 30 from one Hadiza Bashiru of Tingno that her five-year-old son, Abba Bashiru, was missing and was last seen with Hassan.

He explained that police operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer of Tingno acted swiftly on the report and arrested Hassan.

“During interrogation, the suspect confessed to conspiring with one accomplice, who is currently at large, to kill the boy and bury him in a shallow grave.

“The corpse was later exhumed and taken to hospital for autopsy,” Nguroje said.

According to him, the Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to take over the case and ensure the arrest of the fleeing suspect.

Nguroje quoted the commissioner as assuring members of the public of the command’s commitment to ensure justice and its determination to rid the state of violent crimes.

He urged residents to continue cooperating with security agencies to enhance peace and security in the state.
