Police Arrest Sunday, Daniel Yakubu for Kidnapping Threats in Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police Command has recorded a major breakthrough in its fight against kidnapping with the arrest of two suspected kidnappers accused of terrorising Sarau Belel community in Maiha Local Government Area of the state.

According to the Police, the arrest followed a complaint received on December 26, 2025, from a resident of Sagal Village, Sarau Belel, Emmanuel Daniel, who reported that he was threatened with kidnapping by two individuals who allegedly claimed responsibility for the abduction of his younger brother, Joshua Daniel, kidnapped in November 2024.

Acting on the complaint, the Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State Command, CP Dankombo Morris, PSC (+), ordered the immediate deployment of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Sarau Belel and other operatives to conduct a swift and coordinated operation in the area.

The operation led to the successful arrest of two suspects identified as Sunday Yakubu, 36, and Daniel Yakubu, 38, both male and residents of Konjoli Village, Maiha Local Government Area.

Police investigations revealed that the suspects confessed to the crime and are currently cooperating with the Command by providing useful information to aid further investigations.

In a further development, the Commissioner of Police has directed the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Command to take over the case to ensure a thorough and discreet investigation, as well as diligent prosecution of the suspects in line with the law.

The Adamawa State Police Command has reassured residents of the state of its unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property, while urging members of the public to continue to support the Police with timely and credible information to enhance security across the state.

The arrest was confirmed in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State Police Command.
