
The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested two suspected armed robbers alleged to be behind a series of housebreaking and robbery incidents across the Bauchi metropolis.
In a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, the arrests were part of ongoing operations to combat criminal activities and ensure the safety of lives and property within the state.
Wakil said that on October 22, 2025, at about 2:00 p.m., operatives attached to the C’ Division Police Headquarters, Bauchi, received a distress call from one Na’ima Saleh, aged 30, of Nursing Quarters, Muda Lawal area, Bauchi.
She reported that around 11:00 a.m. the same day, a suspect later identified as Abdulmalik Ismail, aged 19, of Karofin Madaki area, scaled her fence and entered her kitchen armed with a knife in an attempt to rob her.
The victim raised an alarm, attracting the attention of neighbours who pursued and apprehended the suspect. Upon searching him, the police recovered a Redmi mobile phone suspected to have been stolen.
Further investigation revealed that the phone belonged to Sadiyya Kabir, aged 30, of Bauchi, who had earlier been robbed at knifepoint on October 16, 2024. The suspect allegedly made away with her phone, its purchase receipt, and its original pack.
During interrogation, Ismail confessed to the crime and named his accomplice, Abubakar Saleh, aged 20, of Doya area, Bauchi, who was later arrested. Saleh also admitted to his involvement in the criminal activities.
Items recovered from the suspects include:
One Jincheng motorcycle
Two knives
One Redmi mobile phone
According to the Command, the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, commended the swift response of residents that led to the suspects’ arrest. He reiterated the Command’s commitment to ensuring public safety and urged residents to remain law-abiding, vigilant, and cooperative with security agencies in the ongoing fight against crime.
