Police Hand Over 161kg of Seized Drugs in Bauchi to NDLEA

The Bauchi State Police Command on Friday handed over 161 kilograms of illicit drugs recovered from a suspected narcotics dealer to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, who presided over the handover, said the seizure was part of the Command’s intensified efforts to curb drug trafficking and other criminal activities across the state. He noted that the Command had continued to work tirelessly to improve policing standards and enhance public safety.

Aliyu revealed that operatives arrested one Ogbu Simon, a suspected drug distributor, and recovered illicit substances with an estimated street value of ₦12.2 million. According to him, the arrest occurred on November 26, 2025, after the Police received credible intelligence from a concerned citizen regarding suspicious sacks being offloaded at Simon’s shop in Ningi town.

He explained that Simon had allegedly been supplying narcotics from Onitsha, Anambra State, to communities in Ningi Local Government Area and its surroundings.

“In response to this intelligence, a team of detectives led by the DPO of Ningi, CSP Surajo Ibrahim Birnin Kudu, executed a strategic raid on the shop in Ningi town,” Aliyu said.

The operation led to the confiscation of four bags containing suspected Diazepam (D5) and Tramadol tablets. The Operation Restore Peace (ORP) unit launched a detailed investigation that culminated in the suspect’s arrest.

Aliyu added that the suspect confessed to distributing narcotics to several markets within and outside Ningi. He commended residents for supporting security agencies with timely information and urged them to remain vigilant.

“The suspect, alongside the exhibit, is hereby handed over to the NDLEA Bauchi for further investigation and diligent prosecution,” he stated.

Receiving the drugs, NDLEA Deputy State Commander, Hussaini Ummaru, confirmed their receipt and assured that the agency would conduct a thorough investigation. He applauded the Police for their strong collaboration and called on community members to continue providing credible intelligence to aid ongoing efforts against drug trafficking.

The Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property, urging the public to support security operations by reporting suspicious activities.
