Police Trails Ex-LG Boss Over Killing Of Lawmaker In Taraba

The Taraba State Police Command is actively pursuing former Takum Local Government Chairman, Hon. Shiban Tikare, in connection with the killing of Taraba State House of Assembly member, Bar Hosea Ibi.

Police Commissioner CP. David Iloyanomon confirmed the pursuit, assuring that Tikare will be apprehended despite being on the run.

The Chief Judge of the State, Justice Joel Agya, expressed disappointment over Tikare’s non-arraignment despite being implicated as the mastermind of the killing. He directed the State Police Command to arrest Tikare and bring him to face justice.

Furthermore, the police commissioner revealed that 28 suspects have been arrested for various offenses, including kidnapping, homicide, armed robbery, and cybercrimes.


The police also recovered a significant amount of arms, ammunition, and other items from the suspects, including those involved in the abduction of Federal University, Wukari students.

In a commendable display of integrity, a patrol team that rejected a bribe of N8 million has been rewarded by the Inspector General of Police, IGP. Kayode Egbetokun, for their professionalism and dedication to duty.

The police commissioner expressed gratitude to the governor of the state, Dr. Agbu Kefas, for the support provided to the police and other security agencies, contributing to the successes in maintaining law and order in the state.
