Ramadan: Gombe Governor Sets Up Palliative Distribution Committees

Gov. Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has approved the constitution of committees for the distribution of Ramadan palliatives across the state.

The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, announced the development in a statement on Friday in Gombe.

Njodi said the initiative aimed to ensure the smooth and effective distribution of relief materials to support residents during the holy month of Ramadan.

He said the committees comprised a State Coordinator, Local Government Coordinators, and Ward Distribution Committees to facilitate the distribution process.

According to him, Rt. Hon. Abubakar Mohammed Luggerewo has been appointed as the State Coordinator.

The Local Government Coordinators are as follows:

Akko LGA – Abdulkadir Mohammed Malle

Balanga LGA – Col. Abdullahi Bello (Rtd)

Billiri LGA – Mohammed Saidu Mohammed

Dukku LGA – Muhammad Gambo Magaji

Funakaye LGA – Mijinyawa Mohammed Tilde

Gombe LGA – Barr. Sani A.A. Haruna

Kaltungo LGA – Abubakar Dantata

Kwami LGA – Engr. Usman Maijama’a

Nafada LGA – Salihu Baba Alkali

Shongom LGA – Hon. Binta Bello

Yamaltu/Deba LGA – Nasiru Mohammed Aliyu


Njodi said the Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) would serve as the Secretary of the committee.

Other members of the Local Government Committees include:

Commissioners and Special Advisers from the 11 LGAs

Members of the State House of Assembly from the LGAs

Local Government Council Chairmen

Representatives of Traditional Rulers

Local Government APC Chairmen

Senior Special Assistants II (Political and Community Engagement)

Representatives of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), Women’s Groups, Youth Groups, Persons with Disabilities, and Religious Groups (JNI)

Two major stakeholders from each LGA

He added that Ward Distribution Committees had also been set up across all wards, comprising:

Ward Chairmen

Ward Councillors and Ward Coordinators

Representatives of Women’s and Youth Groups

Representatives of Traditional Institutions and Religious Groups

Representatives of NGOs/CSOs

Two major stakeholders from each ward

The SSG said the formal inauguration of the committees would take place on Saturday at 3 p.m. at the SSG’s Conference Hall, Government House, Gombe.

He reassured residents that the initiative would be transparent and inclusive, ensuring that relief materials reached those in need.
