Nigeria has lost one of its most respected Islamic scholars, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, who passed on at the age of 100.
His son, Sayyadi Ali Dahiru Usman Bauchi, confirmed the development in a telephone interview on Thursday.
Sayyadi Ali told our correspondent that the family accepted the loss with gratitude to Allah, saying the scholar lived a fulfilled life devoted to the service of Islam.
“It is confirmed Sheikh has returned to his creator. We are all from Allah and to Him we shall all return,” he said.
“It is time for Sheikh to rest. We thank Almighty Allah. Allah has done everything for us by sparing the life of Sheikh till this time. Sheikh’s life was well spent. Alhamdulillah.”
He added that he was currently in Madinah and could not immediately confirm where the revered scholar would be buried. “Maybe in Abuja or Bauchi,” he said.
Until his death, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi was one of the country’s most influential Tijjaniyya clerics, widely respected across Nigeria and beyond for his scholarship, leadership, and decades of propagation of Islamic teachings.
