Serial Cable Thieves Arrested At Adamawa State Polytechnic, Yola

Security personnel at Adamawa State Polytechnic, Yola, have apprehended two teenage suspects, Ibrahim Usman, 16, and Musa Umar, 17, for alleged theft of electrical cables and other valuables.

The suspects were arrested at about 9:00 p.m. on Thursday while attempting to cart away a bundle of service electrical cables and science apparatus from the institution.

Speaking during interrogation, the suspects, who claimed to reside in the Nepa Sama area of Yola, confessed to stealing armored electrical cables and other items from the campus on three previous occasions without being caught.

They further revealed that they had been selling the stolen items to a regular buyer who also resides in Nepa Sama.

NAN gathered that the suspects were paraded before the Rector of the Polytechnic, Prof. Mohammed Dahiru Toungos, before being handed over to the police by the Chief Security Officer, Mr. Felix Kombe Agana, for further investigation.

The polytechnic, which contracts security services to the Peace Corps, has suffered several cases of theft in the past, with perpetrators often evading capture.

Authorities have urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies.
