Several passengers have sustained varying degrees of injuries after a commercial bus belonging to Adamawa Sunshine Transport Company was involved in an accident along the Gombe–Yola road on Saturday.
Eyewitnesses said the incident occurred in the early hours of the day when the bus, travelling from Yola to Abuja, reportedly lost control due to over-speeding and plunged off a bridge into a river.
Although no lives were lost, some passengers sustained broken bones and other injuries and were taken to a hospital for treatment.
Authorities have urged relatives of passengers who boarded the early morning Yola–Abuja service to check on their loved ones.
Local officials wished the injured victims a speedy recovery and cautioned motorists to adhere to traffic regulations to prevent road accidents.
