The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with the abduction of an elderly man, Alhaji Ahmadu, in Malabu, Fufore Local Government Area of the state.

The arrest was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, who said the suspects were apprehended during an intelligence-led operation carried out in collaboration with local security stakeholders.

According to the statement, the operation followed the kidnapping of Alhaji Ahmadu on January 30, 2026, in Malabu community.

Nguroje explained that the raid was conducted at a suspected kidnappers’ hideout in Jera village, Malabu District, in compliance with the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, to intensify the crackdown on kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state.

The suspects were identified as Lawali Haruna, 45; Yahaya Ibrahim, 25; and Da’u Alhaji Ahmadu, 28, all residents of Jera village in Fufore LGA.

In a disturbing development, police revealed that one of the suspects is the biological son of the kidnapped victim.

“All three suspects have confessed to their involvement in the crime. More worrisome is the fact that one of them is the biological son of the victim,” the statement said.

The police command noted that efforts are ongoing to rescue the abducted victim unharmed and to track down other members of the criminal syndicate.

Nguroje added that the suspects are currently in custody while investigations continue.
