Southern Borno Law Students Appoint Ndume as Patron, Set to Present Award of Excellence

The serene residence of Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume was recently enlivened by a delegation of law students donning the traditional black and white of the legal profession. Members of the Southern Borno Law Students Association (SOBOLSA) paid a courtesy visit to the veteran lawmaker to formally appoint him as their Patron and announce plans to present him with an Award of Excellence.

The delegation, comprising aspiring lawyers from all nine local government areas of Southern Borno and drawn from the University of Maiduguri’s Faculty of Law, expressed deep admiration for Senator Ndume’s outstanding contributions to education, youth development, and the socio-political progress of Borno South.

Addressing the Senator, the President of SOBOLSA lauded his exemplary leadership and unwavering commitment to good governance. “We are proud of your efforts and the example you continue to set for young people in Borno and beyond,” he said. “Engaging with you has provided invaluable insight that will inspire our future legal careers. We sincerely appreciate your warm reception and honor.”

Senator Ndume warmly accepted the patronage with humility, noting, “Although I am not a lawyer, I am married to one—my wife, Aisha, is a judge. This makes me feel a strong connection to your profession and to you all as part of my extended family.”

He further announced that his daughter, Barrister Hafsat Mohammed Ndume, a lecturer at the University of Maiduguri’s Faculty of Law, will serve as his liaison with SOBOLSA to ensure ongoing coordination and support.

“I wholeheartedly accept this appointment as your Patron,” Senator Ndume said. “Barrister Hafsat will represent me to maintain constant engagement with the association.”

The Senator encouraged the students to pursue their studies with dedication, emphasizing that law is a profession grounded in continuous learning, research, and moral integrity.
