Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley, has ordered the immediate repair of overhead truck barricades allegedly vandalised by suspected smugglers at Gada Bakwa and Gada Kulangeh in Hong Local Government Area.
The barricades, located at Gada Bakwa bordering Dagza and Mombol, and Gada Kulangeh bordering Hyema and Maiha, are situated in Husherizum Ward.
Wesley’s intervention followed a report by residents of the affected communities who raised concerns after several unsuccessful efforts to get the barricades repaired through official channels.
In response, the Speaker deployed technical experts to restore the barricades and commended the communities for their vigilance and prompt action.
Through a delegation sent to the areas, Wesley issued a strong warning to those involved in vandalising public infrastructure, stating that anyone found culpable would face the full weight of the law, regardless of status.
He urged residents to serve as custodians of public facilities and to report any suspicious activity related to vandalism.
The Speaker further disclosed plans to collaborate with both state and non-state security actors to monitor the barricades and enhance local surveillance.
Wesley reiterated his commitment to the protection and maintenance of infrastructure delivered by the Fintiri-led administration, particularly the Pella–Maiha Road, which had been completed after being abandoned by successive governments for over a decade.
