The Deputy Governor of Borno State, H.E. Umar Usman Kadafur, on Monday, attended the final match of the Football Association (F.A.) Unity Cup Competition held at the Biu Township Stadium.
The event, organized by the Biu Football Association, attracted thousands of football enthusiasts and dignitaries, including Hon. Yakubu Gambo Kimba, Member of the House of Assembly representing Biu, Hon. Babale of Bayo constituency, special advisers, senior special assistants, and party stalwarts.
Kadafur, who ceremonially kicked off the match, witnessed the keenly contested game between Keptin Football Club and Kadafur Football Team.
After a goalless 90 minutes of intense play, the winner was decided in a penalty shootout, where Keptin Football Club triumphed with a 3-2 victory over Kadafur Football Team.
The deputy governor presented the winners with a trophy and a set of jerseys, commending both teams for their sportsmanship and outstanding performance.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to promoting sports as a vital tool for youth development, unity, and community engagement in Southern Borno and the state at large.
The F.A. Unity Cup began with 32 teams competing in a knockout format, culminating in the exciting final match at the Biu Township Stadium.
