STF Committee Dismantles Notorious Illegal Mining Site in Taraba

The Special Taskforce STF Committee Members in Taraba State led by it Chairman Retired General Jeremiah Aliyu Faransa have sets ablaze a famous notorious illegal mining site in Abuja Leather in Jamtari ward, Gashaka Local Government Area.

The Special Taskforce Committee Members arrived Abuja – Leather undisclosed when the illegal miners were enjoying exploration of mineral deposits at the site the early hours of Friday, 26th January.

The Chairman, Retired General Jeremiah Aliyu Faransa said it has become imperative for the STF to sets ablaze the notorious mining site considering the fact that stan warning was made to them during the special taskforce sensitization tour to the area sometimes last year.

“Despite the sensitization across the sixteen local government of the state, yet the lagadastic behaviours of illegal miners was wearisome” he said.

He added that already, Governor Agbu Kefas has issued an executive order suspending mining activities in the state last year but wondered why they were adamant at the order saying that the action came at the right time and it will serve as deterrent to those who feel they are above the law.

During razing the illegal mining site, retired General Faransa added that Abuja – Leather has already become a criminal dane and averred that heavy explosives were seeing detonating as a result of the inferno pressure during the operation.

“Explosives are used freely in Taraba State, no control, no internal control measure are taken by the authority concerned” he added.

He further emphasized that executive order of Governor Agbu Kefas must be heed else he will go after those involved no matter how highly placed they are in the society.

Amataz quartz is the mineral deposits mined in Abuja – Leather in Jamtari ward of Gashaka Local Government Area.

The special taskforce committee members have arrested some of the illegal miners at the site during the operation and will arraign before the special mobile court for prosecution.

Kamal A. Yusuf from Shagarda ARD 33yrs
Sirajo Adamu 51yrs from Kaduna State
Ibrahim Hassan 35yrs from Gayam
Shehu Usman 42yrs from Gombe State and others are;
Saidu Aliyu 42yrs from Bauchi State
Yusuf Abdulkarim 36yrs from Donnada, Lau LGA Adeka’a Nathaniel 32yrs from Gazabu, Bali LGA respectively.

During the operation, the following companies were disclosed to the operatives as follows;

Bamaraya Coy ( Alh. Abdullahi Zamfara)

The chairman retired General Faransa promised to raid the illegal mining site if they fail to heed to the executive order.
