Stop Campaigning for 2027 or Face Sack, Fintiri Warns Appointees

Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has cautioned his appointees against campaigning for the 2027 general elections, insisting that their focus should remain on delivering good governance.

Fintiri issued the warning during the 2024 end-of-year stakeholders’ meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the Government House, Yola, on Tuesday.

The governor noted that his administration’s primary responsibility was to serve the people of Adamawa, adding that any form of politicking at this stage would not be tolerated.

“It is time to focus on governance and delivery of services and projects rather than politicking,” Fintiri said.

The governor warned that appointees engaging in premature political campaigns risk losing their positions, as he prioritised service delivery over personal political ambitions.

“My agenda for 2025 and beyond remains service to the people of Adamawa. Those who are bent on seeking popularity for political purposes should either resign or face dismissal,” he said.

Fintiri further assured the stakeholders of his commitment to fulfilling the mandate entrusted to him, urging all party members to align with his vision of prioritising governance.

The meeting had in attendance Deputy Governor Kaletapwa Farauta, the three senators representing Adamawa, the Speaker of the Adamawa House of Assembly, all PDP members of the assembly, and executive cabinet commissioners.
