Suicide Bomber Kills 10 in Borno Fish Market Blast

At least 10 people were killed and seven others injured when a suspected Boko Haram suicide bomber detonated an explosive device at a crowded fish market in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State.

The explosion occurred on Friday night, when the attacker, disguised as a civilian, infiltrated the market and triggered the device among unsuspecting traders and buyers.

A security analyst, Zagazola Makama, disclosed the incident in a post on X, stating that the blast resulted in multiple casualties, including the suicide bomber.

“The Nigerian Army troops and emergency response teams were immediately deployed to the scene, and the injured victims were evacuated to a nearby medical facility for treatment,” he said.

He added that security personnel have cordoned off the area and intensified surveillance to prevent possible infiltration by additional attackers.

The attack comes amid ongoing efforts by security agencies to contain the activities of insurgents across the North-East region.

Authorities are yet to release an official statement on the incident, but residents have expressed fear of renewed attacks in the area.

The latest attack adds to the series of bombings attributed to the Boko Haram terrorist group, which has continued to target civilian populations despite repeated claims of degradation by security forces.

Efforts to reach the Borno State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) for comments were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
