Suspected Murderer of Policeman’s Son Apprehended In Bauchi

The Bauchi State Police Command has arreste Rabi’u Adamu (20), a suspected kidnapper linked to the murder of Christopher Bala (12), the son of ASP Bala Yarima of Gumau Division, Bauchi State.

SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, revealed in a statement that the victim, Christopher, was abducted while running an errand, leading to a harrowing sequence of events.

Investigations pointed towards Rabi’u as the primary suspect, uncovering unsettling connections of extortion and familial ties between the suspect, the victim, and the victim’s family.

According to Wakil, the suspect confessed to the heinous crime of kidnapping and subsequently murdering Christopher, along with extorting a ransom of N200,000 from the victim’s father, ASP Yarima. Shockingly, Rabi’u admitted that he resorted to strangling the victim and burying his body in a shallow grave at Bazale village’s hill out of fear of being recognized.

In a bid for justice and closure, the Bauchi State Police Command carried out the exhumation of the victim’s remains, followed by a postmortem examination at the General Hospital, Toro, which confirmed the cause of death as strangulation. The case has since been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department for an in-depth probe, as per the directive of the Commissioner of Police.

Assuring the grieving family of ongoing efforts to secure justice, Wakil emphasized the importance of heightened vigilance within households, urging individuals to exercise caution in their interactions with acquaintances, especially family and friends, to safeguard the well-being and security of their loved ones.

As the investigation progresses, the Bauchi State Police Command remains steadfast in its commitment to unraveling the truth behind this tragic incident and ensuring that those responsible face the full force of the law.
