Taraba Begins Payment to Cleared ‘Ghost Workers’

Some workers in Taraba State who were earlier classified as “ghost workers” have begun receiving their outstanding salaries, bringing relief after months of uncertainty.

Findings indicate that staff of the College of Education and the College of Agriculture are among the first beneficiaries, with several confirming receipt of payments covering July, August and September.

This development follows the work of the state’s verification committee, which had earlier cleared 1,410 workers for immediate payment, while others are currently undergoing an additional screening process for re-engagement and subsequent salary disbursement.

Sources familiar with the process told Frontline TV that more affected workers may receive payment notifications before the end of the day as the state government continues the phased release of outstanding wages.
