Taraba Deputy Governor Returns to Jalingo After Four-Month Absence

The Deputy Governor of Taraba State, Alhaji Aminu Alkali, has returned to Jalingo after a four-month absence due to health-related issues.

Insight Northeast reports that Alkali arrived at the Danbaba Suntai Airport, Jalingo, on Sunday at about 1:40 p.m. aboard a chartered aircraft.

His return was unannounced, as journalists were not informed ahead of his arrival and no media presence was observed at the airport.

A source close to the Deputy Governor’s office told NAN that Alkali was earlier flown to Abuja for treatment of an undisclosed ailment before being moved to Egypt for further medical attention.

“We were told that the Deputy Governor is back in Jalingo, but there was no official notification. We only heard after his return,” the source said.

As of the time of filing this report, there was no official statement from the Deputy Governor’s office, which currently has no designated press secretary.

However, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media and Digital Communications, Mr Emmanuel Bello, confirmed Alkali’s return but did not provide further details.

Alkali’s absence had raised public concern and speculations about his health and duties.
