Taraba: Four Killed, Several Injured In Suspected Explosion

A devastating incident in Taraba State has claimed the lives of four individuals following an explosion suspected to be a bomb detonation inside a house.

The tragic event, which also resulted in multiple injuries, including an elderly person, unfolded in Gaita village within the Karim-Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State.

Reports indicate that the explosion rocked the village around 3 pm on Friday.

Eyewitnesses, including a resident named Musa, recounted hearing a deafening blast emanating from a house in the vicinity.

Upon investigation, it was revealed that the explosion had caused significant damage, leading to the loss of four lives, believed to be members of the same family, and leaving several others wounded.

Further details from sources within the village suggest a history of communal unrest in the area, with previous conflicts resulting in casualties and the alleged use of various weapons, including explosives.

The situation remains tense as authorities work to ascertain the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.

Efforts to obtain official comments from the Taraba State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Usman Abdullahi, were unsuccessful as he is reportedly receiving medical treatment at a hospital in Jalingo.
