Taraba Gov. Declares Open Two-Day Conference on Accountability, Good Governance

Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has declared open a two-day conference on accountability and good governance, organized by the state government for local government officials and stakeholders.

Speaking at the event on Monday, Kefas stressed the importance of implementing policies and programs that promote the overall well-being of the people. He emphasized that leadership at the grassroots level is not a privilege for wealth accumulation but a responsibility that must be taken seriously.

“Governance is not self-serving; rather, it involves utilizing public resources to provide public goods. Leadership is about problem-solving, not wielding power,” he said.

The governor noted that his administration is committed to ensuring effective governance across the state. As part of this commitment, he highlighted the introduction of free and compulsory education, aimed at ensuring that every child in Taraba has access to quality education.

He further stated that leadership capacity-building remains a priority, as it is essential for achieving sustainable development and accountability in governance.

The conference, which brings together local government officials and key stakeholders, is expected to provide strategies for enhancing good governance and transparency at the grassroots level.
