Gov. Agbu Kefas of Taraba on Monday signed into law the Taraba State Sports Commission Law and the Taraba State Youths Development Agency Law, Numbers 10 and 11 of 2025, respectively.
Speaking during the signing ceremony at Government House, Jalingo, Kefas said the new laws would significantly enhance sporting activities and provide platforms for the physical, mental, social, and economic development of young people in the state.
He said the administration had made youth development a core priority and would continue to create and preserve opportunities to address their needs, aspirations and challenges.
“In all our dealings, we have made it our core responsibility to prioritise the youths of Taraba State. We will continue to present and preserve platforms for addressing their needs, aspirations and challenges,” the governor said.
The Sports Commission is expected to coordinate and promote sporting activities across the state, while the Youths Development Agency will design and implement programmes aimed at empowering young people and improving their socio-economic wellbeing.
Kefas described the signing of the two bills as a milestone in his administration’s drive to empower youths and strengthen institutions that support their growth.
